I had a spectacular time spending a week in the Lexus GX 460 Luxury. It is a true full-size SUV. It has a lot of luxury appointments and a very durable body on frame architecture. Beyond the new updated telematic system. There is an impeccable fit and finish. The luxury appointments include beautiful rich leather with rich colors. You still get a 4.6-liter V8 engine underneath the hood. It makes 301 horsepower along with 329 lb-ft of torque.
It is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. It has a full-time all-wheel drive system. The GX460 luxury gets an EPA-rated 19 miles per gallon on the highway. I was able to average 18.7 miles per gallon in a combined city and highway driving. This is better than the EPA-rated 16 miles per gallon combined. I didn’t feel as if this was a gas guzzler, but I felt like this is a good everyday driver. my sister-in-law used to own one and a close friend of mine actually has an older model and found it fascinating.
My drives took me around the Washington DC metropolitan area. I went as far east as the naval academy in Annapolis Maryland on I-97. I was also able to drive it as far west on I-70 to I-81 in West Virginia. The construction and the durability were standout features. It also has a number of active safety technology. That includes the Lexus Lexus safety plus system with intelligent high beams. I really loved the new telematics with the 10.3-inch touchscreen that has standard navigation.
It has Apple CarPlay and also Android Auto integration. I was able to play the music I made with the Carnegie Mellon music department. My song Stop The Bullying sounded so robust in the Premium audio sound system. That came with the Mark Levinson 17 speaker surround sound system that came as an option. The model I drove also had the DVD and off-road package. And it also had the sports design package that adds 19-inch grey metallic alloy wheels and a tow hitch.
The Lexus GX460 however caters to those who have families with three rows of available seating. In this model with the sports package, I wanted to enjoy the durability of a rugged truck.
