I had a great week in the Volkswagen Taos 1.5 SE. The Taos is an all-new compact SUV model that Volkswagen introduced for the 2022 year model. It is a very stylish and attractive-looking SUV. Inside the material was nice.
The model I drove had a pure grey exterior. It’s a front-wheel-drive model. Underneath the hood is a 1.5-liter turbo 4 engine that makes 158 horsepower and 184-pound feet of torque.
It’s mated to an eight-speed automatic with Tiptronic. it’s also got an EPA-rated 36 miles per gallon on the highway. What I loved about the Taos is a lot of the technology integration. You have Volkswagen’s car net telematic system. It integrates apps like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
You have a configurable dash and digital cockpit. The model I drove had adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and Blind-spot monitoring. It also had, Forward collision warning among its safety features. The eight-inch. touchscreen system features Sirius XM with 360L. This model I drove was also wireless charging capable. It had an optional power sunroof And beautiful black alloy 18-inch wheels.
The SE comes with a convenient package that adds a heated steering wheel. My time in the SE was spent going all the way to Annapolis on I-97. I went many times on I-70 West in Maryland all the way to Hagerstown and West Virginia and I-81. I also spent some time in northern Virginia on I-66 and on I-495. My drives gave me a great impression of this compact SUV. I spent some time with my brother. He’s actually another Volkswagen group customer owning a Porsche Cayenne GTS. He found the interior kind of nice. He has a special red interior on his Porsche. The Base price on the Taos SE is $27,245. With options like the panoramic roof, the wheels, and the grey exterior it came out to a delivered price of 31,325. This Taos is another one of the SUVs Volkswagen is manufacturing in Puebla Mexico.
