Driving in the Mazda MX-5 Miata Club was an exhilarating and thrilling experience. I spent the week driving around the Washington DC metropolitan area. I was able to drive these summer days with the top down. I drove on I-495 around the Washington beltway. I also drove up the hills Westward to West Virginia. In between, I drove to points like; Frederick Maryland, Hagerstown Maryland, and in West Virginia to the Northeast part of the state.

I Traveled through I-97, I-270, I-70, and I-81 on multiple trips. I felt the perfect balance of weight and power. The exceptional handling was enjoyed along with the six-speed manual transmission.

There were also features like wireless Apple CarPlay. I also enjoyed firm Recaro seats. I used the larger than expected trunk. I have visited the Mazda factory in Hiroshima Japan where this vehicle is built.

I gained a deeper appreciation during my week. I particularly can recollect how it’s put together. You can see it in the craftsmanship. The integration of technology in this model is great. You have features like lane keep assist and cruise control. The model I drove also had heated seats.

Though that wasn’t a concern in my summertime driving. It’s just a thrilling vehicle to drive. With Brembo brakes, it has exceptional stopping power. I was able to drive around town with my son. He enjoyed riding around with his father with the top down. Both of us looked like twins. I was able to rekindle my dreams of youth. It kept my spirit invigorated getting a shared special experience with my son. It was funny telling him about a manual and why the gears don’t automatically move. I remember when my mother taught me how to drive a manual. Not in a fast car like the Mazda MX5. Nonetheless, it just threw me back decades. The simplest questions could have the biggest impact.

Underneath the hood is a 2.0-liter engine that makes 181 horsepower and 151-pound feet of torque. It’s also fuel efficient. I got an average of 34 miles per gallon during my driving. The base price on the MX5 Club is $30,800. Delivered it came to $36,710.

The main option was the Brembo BBS Recaro package.  For more information visit www.MazdaUSA.com.
