The Toyota 4Runner 4×4 TRD Pro V6 is an exceptional SUV. I had a chance to spend a week in this very capable and durable SUV. I focused my driving around the Washington Metropolitan Area. I made several trips back and forth from the inner beltway around I-495 to I-270 to I-70 West around Hagerstown Maryland. I also made my way to the Northeastern part of West Virginia on I-81. I am very impressed by the fit and finish. I delight at the look, the feel, and the capability.

The technology integration impressed. The model that drove had a 4.0. Liter V6 engine that makes 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque. It gets an EPA-rated 19 miles per gallon on the highway. It is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. During my drives to West Virginia, while observing the mountainous areas, I longed for offroading. I didn’t get a chance to go off-roading. But I truly enjoyed my drives. I visited parks.

This gave me a chance to walk and get into the mind state of the lifestyle of a TRD driver. There are a lot of active lifestyle things one can do.

It had roof racks, so I could imagine hauling skis. I also imagined exciting weekends in the great parks we have all over the country. It had a tow hitch which would have made towing an extra ATV great. Possible.

The sound system was also great. I tested out the music I made with the music department at Carnegie Mellon and I was able to hear the rich lows in the dynamic range of my song Stop The Bullying.  It features 15 JBL speakers. It has a subwoofer and amplifier. There’s also an 8-inch touchscreen navigation system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also integrated.

I really enjoyed the fit and finish. The TRD is a very premium well-put-together vehicle.  It also had an exciting lime rush exterior with a solid black interior. The 4Runner is assembled in Tahara, Japan. The base price on the TRD is $52,120. The only option was the running board and the cargo deck. This brought it to a delivered price of $54,089.  For more information visit www.toyota.com
