Hyundai IONIQ 5: A Futuristic Journey with Electrifying Performance

I’ve had a delightful experience driving the Hyundai IONIQ 5 Limited All-Wheel Drive. My journey took me around the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, where the IONIQ 5 proved to be a harmonious blend of comfort and innovation.

What sets the IONIQ 5 apart is its exceptionally comfortable cabin, built with superior materials that exude quality. The handling is precise, offering abundant torque and an impressive range, all wrapped in a futuristic design.

This model boasts an all-wheel-drive motor with a robust 320 horsepower and 446 pound-feet of torque. It also supports ultra-fast 800V charging, although I had to make do with ChargePoint chargers and a fast charger I found in Hagerstown, Maryland, as I couldn’t locate an ultra-fast charger.

The IONIQ 5’s range exceeds 300 miles, a feat I experienced multiple times through my charging adventures. Driving on I-97 over the Bay Bridge was a serene experience, finding peace while listening to the spa channel and embracing the balance of driving over the ocean. My travels also extended west on I-295 to I-95, then to I-270 and I-70 through the Appalachian hills, reaching the northeastern part of West Virginia on I-81.

During these drives, the IONIQ 5’s power and speed were palpable. The panoramic roof and airy cabin enhanced the driving pleasure, along with the advanced technology, such as the 12.3-inch LCD gauge cluster paired with a 12.3-inch navigation system, offering nearly 25 inches of digital display.

Despite its electrified nature, the IONIQ 5 doesn’t skimp on power. The driving experience was exhilarating, complemented by pulse and ambient lighting. The sound system was exceptional, allowing me to enjoy the music I created with Carnegie Mellon’s music department—the ‘Dah-Varsity’ album, which now serves as the soundtrack for our gamified app that educates about STEAM careers, particularly in the automotive industry.

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 has already garnered global acclaim, winning several SUV awards and emerging as a top choice in its segment. I was particularly impressed with its safety features and technology.

Starting at a base price of $44,000, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 is a testament to Hyundai’s commitment to excellence. For more information, visit HyundaiUSA.com.
