I had a wonderful time driving the all-new Lexus TX 500h F Sport. This new model from Lexus is based on the same platform as the Toyota Highlander and Grand Highlander, but the TX provides exceptional space, comfortably seating seven adults in a full-size SUV with three rows.

The TX 500h F Sport features a hybrid system with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 366 horsepower and 409 pound-feet of torque. It’s mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and has an all-wheel-drive system.

My drives took me around the Washington DC metropolitan area, where I ventured onto I-97 to Annapolis and even made it to Baltimore. This full-size luxury SUV truly impressed me with its comfort and fuel efficiency, achieving an EPA-rated 28 miles per gallon on the highway and 27 miles per gallon in the city.

The base price of the Lexus TX 500h F Sport is $71,300. The model I drove included features such as the technology package, a Mark Levinson sound system, a panoramic roof, and a heads-up display, bringing the delivered price to $78,893. Listening to music I made with the Carnegie Mellon music department on the Mark Levinson sound system was a delight.
