I had an amazing time driving the Volkswagen Tiguan SEL R-Line 4Motion around the Washington DC metropolitan area. My journey also took me through Baltimore, Western Pennsylvania, and Western Maryland, traveling on I-270 and then northwest on I-70 through the Appalachian Hills, eventually reaching the northeastern part of West Virginia on I-81.

Returning to the DC metropolitan area, I conducted some fabulous research and participated in an esports event at Howard University. In between, I had the opportunity to take my mother, aunt, and uncle to the airport. The Tiguan handled the job admirably, accommodating their extensive luggage as they prepared for a month-long trip to England to welcome a new family member. My aunt and uncle were particularly impressed with the Tiguan, noting that it felt like a luxury vehicle. With a son-in-law who owns a dealership for several automotive brands, they are quite familiar with high-quality vehicles. My brother also owns a Tiguan R-Line, and this model is just impeccable.

The panoramic roof added a touch of elegance, and the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine delivered robust power, providing 200 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque. Paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and the 4Motion all-wheel-drive system, the Tiguan offered a smooth and powerful driving experience. The Atlantic Blue Metallic exterior, a no-charge option, perfectly matched several of my outfits.

The Tiguan features wireless Apple CarPlay and other advanced features. The seats were nice and comfortable, and I loved the 12-inch digital cockpit, which I was able to reconfigure to my preference. The touchscreen digital interface integrated navigation and Apple CarPlay seamlessly, and the haptic responses along with the Fender sound system enhanced my driving experience. Listening to the soundtrack of our immersive STEAM learning game, “Dah-Varsity” was a delight.

The Volkswagen Tiguan SEL R-Line 4Motion is fuel-efficient, achieving an EPA-rated 29 miles per gallon on the highway. The base price is $38,505, and the delivered price came out to $39,855. For more information, visit www.vw.com
