I had an exceptional time driving the Volvo XC90 Recharge AWD Ultimate. During my time with the XC90 Recharge in the Washington DC metropolitan area, I had the pleasure of driving over the Bay Bridge and enjoying the serene ocean views.
I also navigated through Baltimore, cruised around the 495, and explored I-97, truly savoring the luxury of this seven-passenger SUV. Volvos have a strong heritage in my family. I fondly remember my father’s blue Volvo 240 DL and my uncle’s brown one. My mother, who used to own a Volvo 960, was equally impressed when riding with me in the XC90 Recharge. She frequently remarked on the superior fit and finish of the materials, reminding me of her love for Volvos.
Under the hood, the XC90 Recharge features a 2.0-liter turbocharged direct injection engine paired with an electric motor. This setup is mated to an 8-speed Geartronic automatic transmission, delivering a combined 455 horsepower and 523 pound-feet of torque—312 horsepower from the turbo 4-cylinder engine and 143 horsepower from the electric motor.
I was particularly impressed by the 21-inch wheels and the vehicle’s stylish design. Charging the XC90 at Leisure World was convenient and efficient.
The XC90 Recharge offers an EPA-rated electric range of 33 miles and a combined gasoline-only fuel efficiency of 27 miles per gallon. The combined electric and gasoline efficiency reaches an impressive 58 MPGe.
The base price of the XC90 Recharge AWD Ultimate is $79,600. My test vehicle included several options like the Lounge Package, which features a massage function, and the Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system.
This allowed me to enjoy the music I created with the Carnegie Mellon music department, as well as the new soundtrack for our gamified app, Dah-Varsity. The total delivered price came to $87,495.
