I had a fabulous time driving the Mercedes-Benz GLE-450 4Matic SUV. The Mercedes-Benz GLE has origins with the Mercedes ML. Mercedes later changed their naming nomenclature. A neighbor of mine actually had an ML350 and we had done business with local dealerships, especially Euro MotorCars since 2001.
Several family members have owned Mercedes-Benz over the years.
Including my brother, my mother, and my uncles. I’ve even traveled all the way to Stuttgart where I had a chance to visit the museum.
My experience in the GLE 450 however was exhilarating. I spent my week during the 4th of July weekend. I had a chance to drive as far east on I-97 across the Bay Bridge and the Chesapeake Bay to Kent Island. I drove as far west on I-70 and I-270 and I-81 West in the northeast and part of West Virginia. I also drove on the Beltway on I-495 and I-95 to Baltimore.
I found the GLE Exceptionally comfortable, roomy, and spacious as I was able to haul my family in the vehicle. It’s also fuel efficient. I was able to average 26.7 miles per gallon. Though it gets an EPA-rated 26 miles per gallon on the highway. Underneath the hood is a 3.0 liter V6 turbo engine that makes 362 horsepower and 600 and 369 pound-feet of torque.
It is matted to a 9-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission and has a 4Matic all-wheel drive system. In the model, I drove it as the eco-stop. There’s also the EQ boost power, which is a mild hybrid.
That’s able to give you extra acceleration and boost. It also has a lot of telematics integration. There’s Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are two 12.3-inch wide screens that give you almost 25 inches of digital display. There are a lot of technology features as I mentioned before. From the. Adaptive high beam assists with the collision warning and the active brake assist.
What we love is the rigorous power and acceleration. as I was able to feel calm driving over the Bay Bridge and looking at the ocean. I felt the 4th of July celebration driving by Annapolis and the Naval Academy.
I was feeling grateful for all there was around me. Especially being in such a luxurious sumptuous cabin. The base price of the GLE-450 4Matic SUV is $63,950.
The model I drove came with an emerald green metallic paint. It had beige and black leather. It had several packages including the driver assistance plus.
