Cart

I had a fabulous week in the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander SEL 2.5 S-AWC four-door SUV. I could tell the development benefits from the increased alliance with Renault Nissan. First the fit and finish are impeccable. What I see in this vehicle is a premium, stylish, well-built high-performing Mid-size SUV.

It is fuel-efficient getting an EPA-rated 30 MPG on the highway. It also seems to enjoy Nissan’s great pilot assists system. I was able to observe The driver assist package, which is one of the best systems in the market. Mitsubishi calls its version the MI-Pilot assist with Navi link.

It also has adaptive cruise control with stop and Go lane keep assist. The system also has lane departure prevention.

Also, it has traffic sign recognition, blind-spot warning, and lane change assist. I was able to experience all these features in my many drives. I drove all the way to I-97 in the Eastern part of Maryland to Kent Island. I drove West on I-270 to I-70 in Hagerstown and I-81 in North-Eastern West Virginia. With an 8-speed continuous variable transmission performance was great. Technology was also a highlight. It features Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

There was an optional Bose Premium sound system with 10 speakers. It was exceptional to hear the music I did with the Carnegie Mellon music department. Songs Paradise and Stop the Bullying had great dynamics. There’s also a heads-up display that came with the SEL Touring package. You are also able to configure your driving modes for various terrains and comforts. Driving for a week I gained a great appreciation for the quality and the performance.

That Outlander makes 181 HP and 181 lb-ft of torque. It has a super all-wheel control.

This is Mitsubishi’s unique approach to all-wheel-drive systems. The base price on the Outlander SEL is $33,745. With options like the Touring package, it came to a delivered price of $37,995. The Mitsubishi Outlander is assembled in Okazaki, Japan. For more information visit www.MitsubishiCars.com
