The Best Selling Ford F-150 does it again with the 4X4 Supercrew

Cart

I recently spent a week driving the best-selling truck in America,  the Ford F-150. I was in the 4×4 SuperCrew model that has the 5.0-liter V8 engine mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

During my week of driving around the Washington DC metropolitan area, Eastern West Virginia, and  Eastern and Western parts of Maryland,  I had an average of 20.9 miles per gallon.

This all-new Ford F-150 adds several Class-leading safety technologies. I like the adaptive cruise control and lane assist technologies. The XLT model I drove was very comfortable. It was very capable during the week that saw a lot of inclement weather with a lot of snow.

More snow than usual for this time of the year in the Washington metropolitan area. The model also included the new Ford Sync 4.

The model I drove had the optional V8 engine. It makes 400 HP and 410 lb-ft of torque. It had chrome running boards and had the Ford co-pilot 360 assist 2.0. 360 Assist 2.0. gives you a 360 view and other driver-assist packages. It had 18-inch silver aluminum wheels. There’s also an auto-hold feature.

I like the generator mode which uses the vehicle to supply power to outlets and can operate power tools.

It’s like the workbench feature that I saw on the pre-production hybrid model. So there’s a lot of new technology on this new F-150. It also has an obligatory in this segment Wi-Fi hotspot. There is also Android Auto and a wireless app projection feature. You could project apps from your mobile device onto the F-150 touch screen. I spent a lot of my time navigating the weather, doing some shopping, and checking out these great features.

Before production, I had to delight in checking out the F-150 at the National Harbor.  I became a fan of a lot of the features in the hybrid. The F-150 4×4 super crew XLT has a base price of $46,290. With the options I mentioned and others the total price and the delivered price was $56,990. Visit www.ford.com for more details.
