Cruizing in the Hyundai Ioniq HEV Limited

I like electrified vehicles. I am a firm believer in sustainability. Getting an opportunity to drive this Hyundai IONIQ has been pretty impressive. I got a chance to spend a week in the Washington Metropolitan area with the HEV Limited model. I came away with the impression Hyundai has a winner here. It has a lot of technology features.

I loved the Harman Kardon sound system.

It has wireless charging capability.

It also features a 10.25-inch navigation system that also controls SiriusXM. You can use voice commands to say which station you want. It also has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Hyundai’s Blue Link connected car system comes standard.

I really loved to fit and finish, the auto-hold feature, and the heated seats. Another plus for me was the race-inspired steering wheel with paddle shifters.

With an EPA rated 55 MPG in the city and 54 MPG on the highway the IONIQ has a gas tank with over a 600-mile range. I can envision driving for weeks in city driving without having to refuel. Power in the Ioniq Hybrid is provided by a 1.6L 4-cylinder engine.

It makes a combined 139 HP from a gas engine and a 32 kW electric motor. There is also an extra 12 Volt battery onboard with the IONIQ. Transmission is a 6-speed Ecoshift dual-clutch. I enjoyed the smooth shifts during my drive around town.

The base price on the Ioniq HEV Limited is $31,200 and delivered it came to $32,310. Most of this vehicle was manufactured in Ulsan, Korea. Visit www.hyundaiusa.com for more information.
