Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross receives overall 5-Star Safety rating in latest NHTSA crash testing.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse is the second model I have driven recently. I have to admit I have been quite impressed. Styling with Mitsubishi takes getting used to, but I love the quirky nature of their design language. In the new Eclipse Cross, you get a combination of great styling and available technology. I spent a week in the Washington Metropolitan area in a pearl white SEL S-AWC model. Power on the Cross comes from a 1.5 L direct-injected turbo engine that makes 152 HP and 184 lb-ft of torque. The 1.5 L engine is mated to a CVT transmission and what Mitsubishi calls an All-wheel control system. These combined systems get 26 MPG on the highway. On the Eclipse I also enjoyed a color Heads Up Display system. I enjoyed the 7.0 “touch screen telematics system which featured Android Auto and Apple Carplay compatibility. There are several safety features like; lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and forward collision mitigation that come standard. The base price on the Cross SEL S-AWC is $28,595 and with options like the touring package, the model I drove came to a delivered price of $32,520.
