I had an exhilarating experience test-driving the Subaru WRX tS, Subaru’s latest track-inspired take on its legendary performance sedan. My drives took me across the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area—including snowy roads in Baltimore and the backstreets off Route 198 in Maryland—and the WRX tS handled every environment with confidence and flair.

The all-wheel drive system proved more than capable during a recent snowstorm that blanketed the region. Even on slick roads, the WRX tS remained planted and responsive. Its tuned suspension and upgraded performance features provided exceptional handling, making tight corners and uneven pavement a thrill to conquer.

Inside, Subaru doesn’t skimp on refinement. The interior of the WRX tS is well-appointed with high-quality materials and a modern, driver-focused design. I was particularly impressed by the Harman Kardon® premium audio system, which delivered crystal-clear sound—perfect for playing some of my own music, created through the Music Department at Carnegie Mellon.

Under the hood, the WRX tS packs a 2.4-liter turbocharged BOXER® engine, delivering robust torque and rapid acceleration. Subaru’s signature symmetrical AWD system ensures power is distributed efficiently, even in challenging weather conditions.

Beyond its sporty aesthetic and dynamic performance, the WRX tS also brings Subaru’s renowned safety technologies to the forefront. Driving through I-495 and I-95, the WRX tS offered a confident and composed ride, aided by advanced driver assistance systems and exceptional visibility.

For those looking for a high-performance daily driver that doesn’t compromise on comfort or control, the Subaru WRX tS is an outstanding choice. It blends motorsports-inspired engineering with everyday practicality and Subaru’s commitment to safety.
The base price for the WRX tS starts at $42,795, and the model I drove came to around $44,000 delivered. For more details, visit Subaru.com.
