I’ve had a spectacular time driving the Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road 4×4 Double Cab. My drives took me around the Washington DC metropolitan area, driving on I-495, up I-95, and all the way to New York, where I was able to stop by a family dealership, Riverhead Toyota. The Riverhead dealership is my cousin-in-law’s family dealership, where they sell a ton of Toyotas in the eastern part of New York off Long Island. My trip there was exciting, and I got to talk to my uncle about how he acquired the dealership in 1990 and his fantastic stories of selling Toyotas on Long Island.

My drive also took me to Brooklyn on my way back, where I was able to meet a friend who owns a Lexus and celebrate her birthday.

The Toyota Tacoma is more than capable. During my drives, I experienced a lot of inclement weather, including snowstorms throughout the DC region, New York, and New Jersey. I was able to navigate the 4×4 with ease. Getting back to the DC region, my mother also got a chance to experience the Toyota and was pretty pleased with the ride.

I was able to use the cab to help her buy a lot of groceries during the snowstorm, and also help her carry a lot of luggage for her trip.

Three big suitcases, a walker, and disability aids were able to fit in the bed, while bags and other items fit in the back.

The Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road also features a lot of great technology. Underneath the hood is a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. There’s also Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which includes a pre-collision system, lane departure alert, steering assist, lane tracing assist, and a whole bunch of amenities.

The model I drove also had the $16,800 off-road package, which included premium seats and the JBL premium audio system. I was able to listen to the music I made with the music department and also my album “Diversity.” It also allows you to have AC power. There’s also a stabilizer mechanism and other options that took the base price from $42,900 to a delivered price of $54,829 For more information, visit toyota.com/tacoma.
