I had a delightful time in my week in the Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy. It had a  2.5L Inline 4 cylinder turbo engine with an all-wheel drive. It comes with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission with Shiftronic. Standard wheels are 19-inch. The engine makes 281 horsepower and 311-pound feet of torque.

It’s fuel-efficient getting an EPA-rated 28 miles per gallon on the highway. It also comes with a slew of active safety engaging technology. For instance, there’s the highway driving assist that helps you shift lanes and stay in your lane. There is the remote park assist which allows you to use your key fob to reverse your car into and out of a parking spot.

There are also cameras integrated into the side mirrors that show up in the dashboard. This lets you get an extra perspective of what’s going on around the vehicle.

These are exceptional technology features that show off the advanced Engineering capabilities of Hyundai Motors. I had been to the Goyang studio outside of Seoul South Korea a few years ago.

Driving these vehicles and seeing the design and engineering philosophy never ceases to amaze me. But that’s not where all the beauty starts the cabin is very well put together. You get premium Nappa leather seats and a lot of integrated features. For example, you have an exclusive headliner with a real soft touch for the calligraphy model.

You have multiple climate zones. You also have 10.25-inch navigation with Android Auto and Apple Carplay integration. It also comes with a Harman Kardon premium audio system. That was a robust list of options and I tested it with my Stop The Bullying record I made with the Carnegie Mellon music department.

Besides, the model I drove had eight-way power seats for the driver. It also has power seats for the passenger. I was able to spend my week driving north to Baltimore Maryland. I also drove all the way east to Annapolis Maryland.

I was also able to drove west to Hagerstown, Maryland.  While there I was able to drive by the Potomac River at the border with West Virginia. It was a very calming and exciting drive. This vehicle is made is assembled in Montgomery Alabama. Though the transmission and 38% of the content came from Korea.
