2016 Genesis

I can’t sing enough praises of the Hyundai Genesis. I have been a fan since its 2009 debut and I’m impressed by how it has carried a niche as a technological marvel with taut muscular lines, its own distinctive front signature and base engine performance that exceeds most of its competitors. The success of the Genesis has now spawned a stand-alone brand that will have executives from Lamborghini and Bentley in the fold to build on the success and carve a spot at the top of the luxury car heap. There is a lot to work from. The base engine is a 3.8L V6 which makes 311 hp and is mated to Hyundai’s own 8-speed automatic. The model I drove also had all-wheel drive and had a base price of $41,250. Adding the signature, tech and ultimate packages brought the total to $53,100 delivered, yet options like a 9.2-inch touchscreen display with navigation, a Lexicon 17-speaker sound system, smart cruise control with full stop/start support, a panoramic sunroof and more were included.
