The Volkswagen ID. Buzz takes the spirit of the classic VW bus\u2014road\u2011trip memories, surf culture, and living out of a van\u2014and reimagines it as a modern all\u2011electric people mover. I spent time driving the long\u2011wheelbase ID. Buzz around the Washington, D.C. metro area, through Silver Spring, and out toward my home base in West Virginia, and it quickly became a family favorite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Electric powertrain, range, and seating<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

U.S.\u2011spec 2025 ID. Buzz models offer rear\u2011wheel\u2011drive and all\u2011wheel\u2011drive variants: Pro S models with RWD make about 282 horsepower, while Pro S Plus models with 4MOTION all\u2011wheel drive produce around 335 horsepower. EPA\u2011estimated range clocks in at roughly 234 miles for RWD versions and about 231 miles for AWD, impressive numbers for a three\u2011row electric van of this size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seating configurations allow for six or seven passengers, depending on trim and layout, and the interior is huge\u2014more than enough room for my son, my mother, and other family members to ride in comfort. Cargo flexibility is excellent as well, making the ID. Buzz a legitimate multi\u2011purpose vehicle for families, road\u2011trippers, and creative professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everyday driving and tech integration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Driving the ID. Buzz on I\u201181 and I\u201170, as well as on local roads around Silver Spring and into Hagerstown, Maryland, it felt stable, quiet, and more refined than the old air\u2011cooled buses people nostalgically remember. Charging in Hagerstown was straightforward, and the van\u2019s range and efficiency made regional trips realistic without constant planning.<\/a>\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inside, the ID. Buzz brings a digital instrument cluster, a large infotainment screen, voice controls, and a full suite of driver\u2011assistance technologies like adaptive cruise control. It keeps the retro charm of the original bus\u2019s shape and two\u2011tone paint, then layers in all the creature comforts and safety tech that earlier generations never had.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
