I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with the Acura MDX SH-AWD Type S Advance, particularly the model featuring carbon paint. This vehicle truly stood out as exceptional. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the hood, the Type S boasts a powerful 3.0-liter direct injection, six-cylinder engine with a turbo, delivering an impressive 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The robust performance of the car was evident during my drives around the Washington DC metropolitan area, including stretches on I-495, I-270, I-70 through Hagerstown, MD, and I-81 in the northeast part of West Virginia, eventually leading to Pittsburgh on I-76.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the highlights of my drive was the quality time spent with my son Wole, a co-founder of our tech company based at Carnegie Mellon University’s campus, akin to the beginnings of companies like Duolingo on Henry Street. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I found it fascinating that the MDX is manufactured in East Liberty, Ohio, and I hope to visit the plant someday. The Advance trim offers notable performance upgrades, including new brakes and an innovative area-adjusted suspension system, along with a host of active safety features such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The introduction of the 10-speed automatic transmission is a noteworthy addition, enhancing the driving experience. The Type S models come standard with impressive 21-inch wheels, contributing to both style and performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inside the MDX, the driving experience is complemented by a fantastic sound system. I had the pleasure of listening to music created in collaboration with the music department at Carnegie Mellon, including a remix album used to help students express their stories. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 3D ELS Studio 3D sound system, boasting 25 speakers for a real studio sound and presentation, along with features like a Wi-Fi hotspot and support for Apple CarPlay and Android, adds to the overall exceptional audio experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The design team at the Toronto studio deserves commendation for their work on the MDX, both in terms of real-world functionality and a visually striking aesthetic. As I drove, I couldn’t help but appreciate the journey and the unique features of the MDX, from the liquid carbon paint to the rich red interior, creating a luxurious atmosphere for seating up to seven adults.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
