Hyundai has cemented its position as a top 5 vehicle manufacturer and distributor in the United States. Vehicles like the Tucson have been strong sales contributors helping Hyundai achieve that goal. As a compact crossover, the Tuscon plays in a critical segment for sales. I got to spend a week in the Tuscon Ultimate AWD model in the Washington DC metropolitan area and was impressed with my experience. The Tuscon has the excellent build quality and a plethora of available technology. You get advanced safety features like smart cruise control, forward collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, and lane-keep assist standard. I also loved the Android auto integration. There is also an infinity premium audio sound system with a 315 watts. Power was quite robust with a 2.4 L turbo 4 engine that makes 181 HP and 175 lb-ft of torque. Matted to a 6-speed automatic transmission and AWD system the Tuscon Ultimate gets an EPA rated 26 MPG on the highway. The base price in the Ultimate AWD is $32,950.
