LENOVO Y50-70 TOUCH LAPTOP

Laptops are the new desktops. With the size of storage, the capability of mobile processors, the integration of optimal graphics cards, and portability, laptops have been outselling desktops for a number of years. Laptops now face a threat from tablets and 2 in 1’s, but that is a discussion for another day. The advent of the Chromebook is also a new phenomenon, which brings us to the review of the Lenovo Y50-70 Touch laptop. For myself, with the myriad options available to simply get online, edit documents, and watch movies, a higher stander and more comprehensive functionality are key in addition to multimedia production, gaming, portability, communication, and high-definition media viewing. The Lenovo Y50-70 Touch achieves all of my desires and more with an Intel i7-4700 processor with 2.4 GHz, 16 GB of RAM, an Ultra HD 4K 15.6” screen, an NVIDIA 860M graphics card, an HD webcam, and JBL speakers. I traveled the world with the Y50-70 Touch including my trip to CES Asia in Shanghai, China and the Y50-70 Touch was a great companion on my 15-hour flight for watching movies. I was also able to Skype friends and family back home with the HD webcam. What really sold me on the Y50-70 touch was it capability to perform intensive tasks like Adobe InDesign, while also playing games like Destiny on Origin. My son has the Apple Macbook Air and this laptop, though similarly priced at $1599 (though you can get it directly from the Lenovo website at slightly over $1000), is a heavy-duty performer. I’ve been spending months with the Y50-70 touch and went from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, which quite frankly is an entirely different experience. The new features of Windows 10 combined with the Y50-70 Touch allowed me to play games from my Xbox One, Steam, and Origin even better. The display quality was incredible as I played the Netflix app to watch the Narco series. There aren’t many sources currently for 4K content but that will change momentarily as even mobile devices now shoot in 4K. So with the combination of an Ultra HD display, great graphics card, top-line CPU and the ability to do intensive tasks like edit photos while streaming music, surfing the web, and even web chatting for a price around $1000 purchased directly from Lenovo, you will have a hard time finding a better laptop than the Lenovo Y50-70 Touch.
