WINDOWS LUMIA 1520 REVIEW

I have been a fan of Windows phones since the Palm Treo 800w. I found the ability to be productive, edit documents and enjoy multimedia content to be fascinating. From my Treo 800w I graduated to the HTC Touch Pro2 and gave my then 12-year old son my Treo 800w as he began high school and he loved it! The Touch Pro2 was a game changer for me with its Windows 6.1 software and tilted screen. I decided to abandon my Blackberry at the time and use the Windows 6.1-powered device for my many needs. Windows Mobile then detoured and the rest is history as many executives are no longer even with Microsoft, which now brings me to the Lumia 1520 and its Windows 8.1 software. I have to be honest, I wasn’t the greatest fan of the 8.1 OS but I enrolled into the Microsoft Insiders Program and got Build 10512 of Windows 10 Mobile. I have been blown away by the potential and in fact, my son has decided to use Windows 10 to develop on an Intel-based mobile device he is working on. The Cortana digital assistant is the best and paired with the fast Microsoft Edge browser, the Lumia 1520 is the best mobile device I have to do searches on. I also love the Xbox integration and I was able to use it as a remote for my Xbox One. The specs are great with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad core processor with 2 GB of RAM, built-in wireless charging, a 20.0 MP camera (that came in handy for an impromptu interview with the President of Cadillac), and a 6-inch Full HD screen with a very durable build quality. I traveled nationwide with this device and it is a trooper. Coverage was great with AT&T 4G LTE and I love the ability to expand the provided 16 GB of storage, which is a disappearing feature these days. The Lumia 1520 has great potential and as a whole, Windows 10 and its ecosystem bears watching. For more information, visit http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/mobile/phone/lumia1520/
